This email is to let you all know that 2007 has been identified as a period for updating the website. During 2006 the Next ran pilot training's to identify the best way to increase educators capacity to use Hip Hop as an youth development tool.
From here planning has started for the future development of the project.
The project is still alive a kicking.
Over the Next few months we will be evaluating how the Next is being used, putting together a few case studies and exploring avenues for increasing understanding of the value and role that Hip Hop can play in the development of rangatahi/young people.
Keep checking back in to see what is happening

The End is Neigh! It has been an amazing ride with surprises around every corner, however as of the 8th of September 2005 all the hard work will have be worth it.
The final resource is looking fantastic, with the Church Design team putting in more than we could possibly have hoped for, to create a memorable resource and learning experience.
Scribe has been confirmed to launch the resource, a huge endorsement for what the project stands for and the information that the resource contains.
Come back on the 8th Sept, and prepared to be blown away.

Many of you will be wondering when the resource will be finished. Writing began in January and will be completed by the end of March 2005. From that point the content needs to be formated and organised on the resource website, tested with youth workers, and activity ideas that enhance, compliment the work already being done in the community.
So.. it looks loke we are aiming for July as a launch date. Will keep you all posted when that dates becomes more concrete.

The research has been completed with an overview to be added to the website by 1 June 2004. The steering group is currently investigating the publishing of the research.
There has been a great deal of interest in the research to date. If you would like to be notified when the research documents become available, please contact Gino Maresca.

Just bringing you all up to speed. Since early December 2003, the project has been moving towards the completion of the research phase, and into the start of planning for the development and writing of the resource.
The research findings are due to be completed in late March, at which time the key findings will be posted on this website. The results will then be reviewed by members of the Hip Hop community before being available as a document.
Over the next few months we will be working with and seeking feedback/input from a number of youth workers, educators, youth worker trainers, and young people. If you would like to be involved in this process please contact us.

Just a quick note to keep you in the loop with the research.
Things are moving along with the partners and steering group recently evaluating the progress of the project to date. The direction of the project is becomming clearer.
The shape of the resource is taking shape, with a much clearer idea of what is trying to be acheived. In Early January 2004 we will be approaching youth workers and Educators to get their feedback and recommendations on the suggested resource structure.
Sara Tamati (Researcher) has been busy travelling around the country gathering vital information from key players in the community, and will be collating the information over the next month.
Check in again in Late January 2004 when the bulk of the research will be done.
October 2003
Kia ora. Nau mai, haere mai.
As you can see the site has finally gone live as of October 8th 2003.
To give you all an update so far, the project advisory group has been working hard to develop a project that accurately reflects the wide range of perspectives in the community.
The website is the first part of the *next to give anybody run down of the project. The advantage of the website is that we can give regular updates on where the research is heading and any interesting findings that emerge.
Sara Tamati (researcher) has been working with a research team to
develop questions and formats for interviews with key players in the Hip
Hop Community.
Yadana Saw (youth advocate) has been working with Sara to develop a format for including young people in the research. Yadana has also recently completed a youth participation strategy, which will guide the way that the project fosters youth involvement.
The interviews
To date, Sara has trialled one interview, with 17 interviews being
conducted in October. The interviews will be in Auckland, Wellington,
Christchurch, and another regional centre.
10 focus groups are being run with young people across the country.
Research findings
The research report is due to be completed in December 2003. This
report will form the basis of a resource to be developed in 2004.
Keep checking these updates each month to find out where we are at.
